The number of stray dogs in Greece is increasing, and there is a challenging case where a mother is struggling to raise her puppies alone in a vulnerable state. The team at Diasozo Animal Rescue in Karditsa, Greece, consists of volunteers who work tirelessly to help the country’s stray dogs.
Allow me to introduce Souzi, a homeless dog residing in a small village where some kind-hearted locals provide her with sustenance. However, despite their efforts, none of them dare to approach her. Unfortunately, Souzi gave birth to her puppies on a cold concrete floor and was involved in a car accident just three days later, causing severe damage to her hind leg.
Unable to witness Souzi’s distress any longer, the Diasozo Animal Rescue Team made the compassionate decision to take Souzi and her four puppies into their care. Souzi and her little ones received nourishment, hydration, and shelter.
The next day, veterinarian Raia thoroughly examined Souzi to evaluate the extent of her injuries. Unfortunately, Souzi’s leg was in a severe condition with two fractures and damaged skin. As a result, Souzi and her four puppies had to be temporarily separated. Raia will take care of Souzi for a few days, but thankfully, Souzi is still capable of looking after her puppies who will not wander far from their devoted mother due to their young age.
Prompt medical attention is expected to heal Souzi’s injuries swiftly. All parties involved are committed to finding both Souzi and her puppies a new home, ensuring that this small family will no longer have to endure the hardships of life on the streets.
