“From Prey to Protected: A Story of Overcoming Fear and Finding Safety”

LaChrystal Ricke, the mastermind behind Reggie’s Friends, stumbled upon a heartbreaking picture of a dog lying on a dirty sofa. Without wasting any time, she immediately rushed to the location to rescue the poor creature. A concerned social media user also came across a weak and undernourished dog while on their way to a gas station. Disturbed by his deplorable condition, they decided to take him under their wing as his current whereabouts were not safe at all. LaChrystal Ricke embarked on her mission to reach the gas station in the wee hours of the morning, keeping a close eye on her surroundings as it was a dark and risky situation.

Rickie took to Facebook to ask for assistance, saying “Hey guys, can you help me out? I can’t seem to locate him. I’ll let him be for the night because I believe he’s found a safe spot.” The next day, Rickie and two volunteers returned to search for him, knocking on doors and inquiring if anyone had seen the missing individual.

According to Rickie, the missing dog was nowhere to be found until a little female dog named Tessa appeared out of nowhere and led them to where they discovered the distressed pooch. They decided to call him Aniken and Rickie was visibly moved to the point of tears upon seeing his condition. They wasted no time in taking both dogs to see a veterinarian, as Aniken was clearly in a very bad shape.

Rickie shared that he and his partner hurried to the animal hospital when they discovered Aniken’s health problems. Upon reaching the BluePearl Emergency Pet Hospital, they were informed that Aniken had been subjected to further hardships. Not only was he infested with parasites, but he was also utilized as a bait dog for hunting practice. Additionally, his teeth had been removed to prevent him from fighting back.

It’s heartbreaking to see the wounds that were infected because they were sewn up by hand. The scars on his face tell a painful story of what he has endured. He was used as a bait dog, which is absolutely terrifying and disturbing.

During his hospital stay for treatment, Aniken was comforted by a nurse who provided him with cuddly animals as companions. Although it’s unclear what memories or trauma Aniken will carry with him, he no longer has to endure the torment of being a bait dog. The road ahead may be long, but his days of suffering are over.

We extend our gratitude to the rescuers and foster parents of Aniken who have provided him with security and love that will last forever.
